Removing Refuse

The City of Springville has licensed Waspi Waste Services for pickup of solid waste (garbage) and recycling at residences and businesses.

Linn County provides disposal of specialty, hazardous, and restricted items.

A yard waste facility is also maintained for your convenient disposal of branches, leaves and other yard wastes.

Burning of wastes in city limits is prohibited.

Garbage

Most solid waste and recycling materials will be collected by Wapsi Waste Service. Glass and hazardous wastes will not be picked up.

Service day is Tuesday. Please set out all garbage and recycling the night before or before 6 a.m. on Tuesday. Two cans weighing between 35-40 lb. each are allowed per week.

Please contact Wapsi Waste to have excess garbage or larger items picked up.

Recycling

Recyclable items are also picked up by Wapsi Waste Service each week along side your garabage.

These items can be recycled:

  • Paper
  • Cardboard
  • Plastic
  • Tin
  • Aluminum Cans

Special recycling tubs are not required, but typically are blue in color.

All disposed items must be clean.

Motor Oil needs to be in a clear plastic container with a screw on lid and set next to garbage.

Glass, Plastic Bags and Styrofoam Products go in the garbage

Glass and Hazardous Wastes

Hazardous Wastes (those not picked up by Waspi Waste Service) include:

  • Glass
  • Paint
  • TV's'
  • Computer Monitors
  • Tires
  • Oil Filters
  • Car Batteries
  • Prescription Medicines

The Linn County Solid Waste Agency has programs and facilities to help you dispose of these Glass and Hazardous Wastes.

Linn County maintains a facility for glass and hazardous waste disposal at:

1954 County Home Road, Marion.

Burning

No burning is permitted in the City of Springville limits.

In Linn County, outside the City of Springville city limits, no open burning is allowed without an
Open Burning Permit.

Yard Waste

Yard waste can be taken to the yard waste site at the end of
JR Barnes Parkway.

Grass, weeds, sticks, and brush are accepted.

Instructions for disposal are posted on the bins.
