The Senior Farmers' Market Nutrition Program is sponsored through the US Dept. of Agriculture & administered through the Heritage Agency on Aging. It's purpose is to help low-income older adults purchase fresh fruits, vegetables and honey at local farmers' markets.
The program is open to seniors -
1. 60 years of age or older that
2. Reside in Linn COunty or in the Heritage Agency area with a
3. Yearly income at or below $32,107 for individuals or $31,284 for couples.
Qualified seniors will receive $30 worth of vouchers to use at participating area farmers' markets vendors.
Diamond Jo Casino Bus Trip
Saturday June 15th
Bus will be picking us up at the old elementary building parking lot at 5 p.m. and we will be departing from the casino to return home at 10:30 p.m.

It's golf cart season again in Springville! Be sure to keep your eyes open for golf carts around town. Golf carts are energy efficient, cheaper to buy and maintain than regular cars, and a whole bunch of fun to drive.
Springville licenses the use of golf carts, UTVs, and ATVs on city streets.
These vehicles must have a slow moving vehicle sign and a safety flag at least 5 feet high. Drivers must be at least 18 years of age.
Please make sure young children are properly restrained for their safety. To get or renew your license, stop by City Hall or call us at 854-6428.

Must show proof of residency (open to all residents & Businesses that pay for recycling).
Items accepted: sofas, mattresses, furniture, non-commercial appliances, windows, doors & other large bulky items. Any small motorized equipment brought in needs to be drained of gas & oil.
Appliances limited to (2) per residential household or business (air conditioners & water heaters are considered appliances).
Electronics accepted: copy machines, fax machines, CD players, VCR's, televisions, stereos, battery backups, cell phones, computer equipment, computer cords, etc.

Items NOT Accepted:
lead acid batteries, tires, railroad ties, radioactive materials, untreated medical waste, deposit beverage containers, Styrofoam, any recyclable materials, pressurized tanks, any material usually deposited in garbage bags, raw construction materials (shingles, wood, concrete, re-rod, etc.), burn barrels an ash, large commercial appliances (walk-in freezers, commercial stoves, etc.), and hazardous waste items. Public Library Boards have five primary roles:
1. Advocate for the library in the community as a member of the library board.
2. Plan for the future of the library.
3. Monitor and evaluate the overall effectiveness of the library.
4. Set library policies.
5. Hire and evaluate the library director.
If you are interested in being appointed by the Mayor or fill this vacancy, paperwork may be picked up at the library.
Completed paperwork is due to the library by May 31, 2019.

Cox Lake Pavilion
This year's flag retirement ceremony will be held on Saturday, June 8th at 10:30 a.m. If you have a flag that needs to be retired you can drop it off at the American Legion or at Carnahan's Auto before June 8th.
If you would like to purchase a new flag you can get them at the American Legion. There are various sizes available.
Please do not put grass clippings in the street, due to this can clog the storm sewer.
Per City Ordinance 135.03
Placing Debris On. It is unlawful for any person to throw or deposit on any street or alley any glass, glass bottle, nails , tacks, wire, cans, trash, garbage, rubbish, litter, offal, leaves, grass or any other debris likely to be washed into the storm sewer and clog the storm sewer, or any substance likely to injure any person, animal or vehicle.
The Clerk' Office is in the process of getting new software. This will be a big adjustment and getting all our information converted to the new system will take some time.
Your patience during this transition period is greatly appreciated as we work through any issues and get comfortable with the new system.
Our Office will be closed on Thursday, May 30th & Friday, May 31st to get our billing software converted for the June billing. You will see new bills in June.

The P&Z Commission consists of 5 members appointed by the Council. The Commission members shall be residents of the City and shall not hold any elective office in the City government.
This is a volunteer position for a 5 year term.
