The City Council term is for four years. The terms for Council Members Mareta Ralston, Brad Merritt, and Dennis Thies are up December 31, 2019.
To hold office in a city, a candidate must meet the same qualifications required to vote and be a resident of the city he or she plans to serve.
For the 2019 election cycle, the filing period is August 26 , 2019 to September 19, 2019. Anyone wishing to have their name on the ballot to serve on the City Council must complete two forms and submit them to the County Auditor during this filing period. The two forms are an Affidavit of Candidacy, which must be completed by the candidate and signed in the presence of a notary, and a Nomination Petition, which must contain the signatures of at least ten eligible voters.
These forms are available from the city clerk, from any courthouse in Iowa or from the Secretary of State website https://sos.iowa.gov/elections/electioninfo/cityelections.html. The election will be held on Tuesday, November 5, 2019.

It is unlawful for any person to throw or deposit on any street or alley any glass, glass bottle, nails , tacks, wire, cans, trash, garbage, rubbish, litter, offal, leaves, grass or any other debris likely to be washed into the storm sewer and clog the storm sewer, or any substance likely to injure any person, animal or vehicle.

The P&Z Commission consists of 5 members appointed by the Council. The Commission members shall be residents of the City and shall not hold any elective office in the City government.
This is a volunteer position for a 5 year term.
